אודות Elena
I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and piano teacher with more than 23 years of professional teaching and performing experience.
I graduated with honours from the Academic Music College at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. I also completed postgraduate studies at the Gnessin Academy and later taught there as a faculty member.
For over two decades, I have performed throughout Russia and internationally — in philharmonic halls, festivals, and concert tours. My professional work has also included masterclasses, competitions, and jury work across Europe, Asia, and South America.
As a chamber musician, I am a First Prize winner of the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Verona, Italy, and the Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe, Germany. I have also recorded two chamber music CDs for the Russian classical label Melodiya.
Within chamber music, I developed a specialization in classical saxophone repertoire, from traditional works to contemporary music, collaborating with leading Russian and European classical saxophonists.
As a teacher, I have worked with serious adult learners, motivated teenagers, advanced young musicians, international, Russian-speaking, and diplomatic families, and students from very different cultural and educational backgrounds. This experience taught me how to make complex musical ideas clear without flattening their artistic depth.
My teaching is rooted in the Russian piano tradition. For me, this tradition is not a slogan, but a practical artistic discipline: depth of sound, serious listening, technical clarity, musical imagination, and the ability to turn musical intention into real sound at the keyboard.
I help students connect the score, the ear, the hand, the body, and the imagination, so that technique becomes a path to musical expression rather than a set of mechanical exercises.
My aim is to make artistic depth teachable: to help students build independence and play with accuracy, control, freedom, and beauty of sound.
All lessons are taught online, in English or Russian.

Good piano teaching should achieve two things at once: bring the music the student is currently learning to an artistically convincing result and develop abilities that can be carried into the next piece.
A student may prepare one piece after another while important foundations remain weak. Reading is still slow, rhythm insecure, technique poorly organised, and practice consists mainly of repetition followed by correction at the next lesson.
My lessons are designed so that the repertoire and the pianist’s own abilities develop together.
Reading, rhythm, coordination, technique, listening, memory, harmony, form, phrasing and expression are developed as parts of one musical system through the repertoire itself.
Before the hands begin to repeat, we establish what is written, how the musical material is organised, where the phrase is moving, what sound and character we are aiming for, and what movement and technical organisation can produce that result. We then work phrase by phrase, connecting musical intention, inner hearing, physical movement and sound.
This approach does not place analysis above practical playing. It prevents repetition without a clear musical and physical purpose. Technique serves sound and freedom; understanding of the score serves expression; and an artistically convincing performance remains an essential result.
For beginners, this means developing secure reading, rhythm, coordination, listening and healthy technical habits from the start. Returning and continuing pianists rebuild missing foundations and learn to organise their practice more effectively. Advanced students refine sound, technique, structure, interpretation, memory and performance reliability.
I prepare students for music-school and conservatory assessments, ABRSM and Trinity examinations, as well as auditions, performances and demanding classical repertoire. Exam preparation includes the musical and technical foundation required for the level, not only the polishing of a fixed programme.
Lessons are taught online in English or Russian.
The 30-minute introductory meeting offered through Superprof is used to discuss your goals, previous experience, lesson format and whether this approach is the right fit. It is not used as a shortened working lesson.
The first full working lesson allows me to assess your current foundation, repertoire and practice habits and establish the most useful order of work. Afterwards, you receive a concise written summary of the main priorities and direction of study.
Regular lessons are intended for students who value consistent weekly work and long-term musical development rather than occasional correction of isolated pieces.
A small number of regular weekly places are available for the 2026–27 academic year.

Lessons are paid in advance on a monthly basis.
Payment is made in blocks of 4 lessons, which reserve a regular weekly lesson time in my schedule. This helps maintain continuity and supports more stable progress over time.
